The formation of a dust filter cake was simulated by a computer progra
m. Thereby a maximum of three different layers in the dust cake was fo
und, but the actual number of layers was dependent on the compressibil
ity of the cake. For the description of the compression behaviour of t
he cake the friction angle phi and the maximum adhesion force Z(max) w
ere introduced. The goal of our investigations was to find out which t
ypes and sizes of the three layers could be expected in dust filter ca
kes with different compressibility.
