Two liquid membrane electrodes were prepared based on ion-pair complex
es of flecainide with dipicrylamine (I) and lauryl sulphate (II). The
utilization range is 10(-2)-10(-5) M flecainide solution for both elec
trodes, with a slope of 51.3 mV/decade (I) and 54.0 mV/decade (II), re
spectively. The detection limits are 8.3 x 10(-7) M (I) and 1 x 10(-9)
M (II) respectively. Electrodes showed fast response, good reproducib
ility and stability. The compression excipients (magnesium stearate, m
icrocrystalline cellulose and starch) do not interfere. Electrodes can
be used to lest the uniformity of flecainide pharmaceutical tablets (
Tambocor tablets), as well as to determine the purity of flecainide ac
etate-raw material. They also can be used to determine the dissolution
profile of Tambocor tablets, the dissolution model and the apparent f
irst order rate constants for disintegration and dissolution processes
.
