Abstract
The oxidation of zeylanidine (1) afforded two new sesquiterpene dilactones, 4 and 5, besides two known compounds, neoliacine (2) and zeylanidinone (3) . The structures of the novel oxidized products were elucidated on the basi s of spectroscopic techniques, and the structure of compound 5 was further confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The mechanism for the oxidati on of 1 to 4 and 5 has been postulated.
