Abstract
The new purine 1,3-dimethylguanine (1) has been isolated from the ascidian Botrylloides leachi. The structure of 1 was elucidated by analysis of spect roscopic data, by comparison with the regioisomeric purine 1,3-dimethylisog uanine (2), and by hydrolysis to theophylline (3).
