Abstract
An original method of calculating the extinction and refractive indices in low-turbidity solid materials, using the measured directed spectral transmi ttances of plane-parallel plates with Fresnel boundaries is proposed. On th e basis of this method, the thicknesses of samples of clear glass-ceramics for simulating the turbidity of drinking water are calculated. (C) 1999 The Optical Society of America.
