Abstract
The effect of diluents on the extraction of uranium(VI) with petroleum sulf oxides (PSO) was studied. The decreasing order of extraction ability of PSO is as follows: benzene, toluene, cyclohexane, heptane, kerosene, carbon te trachloride and chloroform. The effect of temperature on the extraction equ ilibrium was also investigated and enthalpy of the extraction was obtained. The relationship between the extraction equilibrium constants K-ex and the physical parameters of diluents can be derived.
