Av. Davydov et Yn. Isaev, Alternative explanation of the effect of Mossbauer gamma-line narrowing observed in the experiments by V.I. Vysotskii et al., LASER PHYS, 9(2), 1999, pp. 522-527
It is shown that, under conditions of the experiments by V.I. Vysotskii et
al. [1], the effect of Sn-119 Mossbauer gamma-line narrowing, which was obs
erved when a resonant screen was brought to the gamma-source, may be virtua
lly entirely explained by the contribution of gamma-rays resonantly scatter
ed by the screen. This explanation does not require the attraction of the m
echanism discussed by the authors of [I], which consists in the influence o
f the distortion caused by the screen of zero vibrations of electromagnetic
vacuum an the half-life of Sn-119 excited nuclei. In the case of the gamma
-source and screen made of CaSnO3 gamma-line narrowing via the contribution
of resonantly scattered gamma-rays is 0.82-0.72%, depending on the thickne
ss of the resonant detector used. In [1] the value obtained was 0.70 +/- 0.
42%.
