On the possibility to detect and analyse quantitatively free radicals in in vitro systems

Chemiluminescence generated by zymosan-stimulated macrophage cells in the p resence of luminol has been studied in order to obtain information concerni ng the possible interference with the free radical production in the course of the oxidation of luminol. Analytical solution of the corresponding diff erential equations and computer simulation revealed that this effect is neg ligible if the amount of free radicals produced by the biological system is not too low.
