Abstract
Reactions of organogermylenes, R2Ge: (R=Me and Pr-1), generated by photolys is of 7-germanorbornadienes and cyclohexagermanes with organic halides (R'X ) were examined by chemical trapping experiments and CIDNP measurements. Th e organogermylenes reacted quantitatively with polyhalomethanes (XCCl3, X=C l, Br) and benzyl bromide to give the corresponding abstraction products to gether with polyhaloethanes and bibenzyl, respectively. With trimethyltin c hloride the organogermylenes afforded effectively the insertion products.
