The five-leaf pine species introduced to the Kola peninsula are exposed to
the pathogenic fungi of predominantly local origin. The rotting of seedling
s is most dangerous during the first stage of cultivation, while the 15-20
year old trees are suffering from scleroderriosis and cancer. To prevent th
ese infections of the five-leaf pines the cultivation sites are to be chose
n on a distance from natural forests or the preventional phytosanitaric mea
sures in surrounding natural forests must be conducted.
