Abstract
Two simple and convenient methods of transforming easily accessible 4-phosp horanylidene-5(4H)-oxazolones into N-acyl-alpha-triphenylphosphonioglycinat es are described. N-Acyl-alpha-triphenylphosphonioglycinates react smoothly with heteroatom nucleophiles in the presence of DBU or triethylamine yield ing the corresponding alpha-functionalized glycine derivatives.
