A technique to fabricate an amplitude-compensated matched synthetic discrim
inant function filter (ACMSDF) is proposed. The techniques of computer-gene
rated holography (CGH) and iteration are employed. The ACMSDF is compared w
ith a phase-only synthetic discriminant unction filter (POFSDF) and a conve
ntional synthetic discriminant filter (SDF) to assess, the performance of t
he ACMSDF. Computer simulations show that it has the best discrimination an
d it is very sensitive to changes in the input images. Furthermore, it is a
binary and real-valued filter.
