Abstract
The well-width dependence of the exciton-acoustic-phonon scattering rate in (Zn,Cd)Se/ZnSe quantum-well structures is measured using time-integrated f emtosecond four-wave mixing at low temperatures, and calculated using a fin ite-depth quantum-well model. At fixed temperature the highest rates occur at those well widths for which the quantum confinement and the exciton bind ing energy are maximized. [S0163-1829(99)14115-8].
