A compound nuclear-electron system driven by a coherent optical field and p
robed at the gamma-ray Mossbauer transition is analyzed for the first time.
The possibility of optical control of the Mossbauer spectra is predicted.
This study provides the basis for a new branch of spectroscopy, laser-Mossb
auer spectroscopy, and opens prospects for the realization of a gamma-ray l
