Abstract
The effect of sheared poloidal flow on the linear Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) inst ability of magnetized plasma is reexamined. In the weak curvature flow limi t (V-perpendicular to 0" much less than 1) the linear RT mode stabilization effect is recovered. In the strong flow curvature limit (V-perpendicular t o 0" much greater than 1) it is shown that the RT mode may not stabilize. ( C) 1999 American Institute of Physics. [S1070-664X(99)00905-2].
