The aerial parts of Clutia richardiana yielded a new modified 6,7-secolabda
ne diterpenoid derivative, namely 2 beta-hydroxysaudinolide. The structural
assignment and relative stereochemistry of this compound were based on its
spectral data, including 2-D NMR experiments, notably the gradient HMBC an
d NOESY correlations. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
