Calibrated Polyallyldiglycol Carbonate (PADC) detectors have been used to d
etermine energy-loss and mean ranges of 13.04 MeV/u Xe-129 ion in mica and
Makrofol-KG using the nuclear track technique. The energy-loss rates (dE/dx
) of the ion as a function of energy and depth of penetration in mica and M
akrofol-KG have been derived from the respective energy-loss curves. Experi
mental data are compared with theoretical values obtained from four differe
nt sources. The significance and scope of the work is discussed.
