Abstract
The EPR zero-field splitting D, the anisotropic g factors gli,gi, the first excited (E-2) State splitting Lambda and the stress dependences of D and L ambda for V2+ ion in Al2O3 crystal have been calculated from the high-order perturbation formulas and the superposition model. It is found that to rea ch the good fit between calculation and experiment for these EPR and optica l data, the local lattice relaxation and the local strain in the vicinity o f V2+ ion in Al2O3 should be taken into account. These local values are est imated and the results are discussed.
