Abstract
The article analyse the empirical data from a questionnaire survey run in m anufacturing companies in the Nordic companies and East Asian companies.;Th e purpose of the study is to evaluate to what degree the synergistic effect s of TQM and JIT are to be expected The following six operational hypothese s are formulated and tested: I. High degree of collaboration between suppli er and producer, 2. Strong demands from the producer, 3. Extensive use of P C techniques, 4.. Well-educated workers in JIT environment, 5. Need of prec ise information about customer segments, 6. Need of precise information abo ut customer wants. It appears that we have found reasonable evidence for ac cepting all the six hypotheses.
