Abstract
Viral infections can cause apnoea, bradycardia, and desaturation events in preterm and newborn infants. These symptoms do not always occur in older in fants. A link between virus infection, apnoea, apparent life threatening ev ents (ALTE) and sudden infant death (SID) is speculated. We report a 6-week -old infant with long central apnoea as the first and main symptom of menin goencephalitis caused by enterovirus.
