High spin states in nuclei around Pb-208 were populated in deep inelastic c
ollisions of Xe-136, and Pb-208 projectiles with Pb-208 targets at beam ene
rgies about 12% above the Coulomb barrier. New states in nuclei in vicinity
of Pb-208 have been found that are resulting from coupling of one and two
valence quasi-particles to the lowest 3(-) excitation of Pb-208 core. The r
esults are presented and discussed in the frame of the Particle-Octupole Vi
bration Coupling model.
