The competition between fission and n, p and alpha-particle emission and fu
sion process is studied. The calculations are performed for Yb-160 and Ba-1
26 nuclei at excitation energies from 80 MeV up to about 300 MeV. The nucle
ar fission is described by a Langevin equation coupled to the Master equati
on for particle evaporation. A significant influence of the initial spin di
stribution of the compound nucleus on the prescission particles multiplicit
ies is found.
