Abstract
Results of 378 consecutive elderly patients (greater than or equal to 65 ye ars) undergoing coronary stenting were compared with those of 601 younger p atients. Although the restenosis rate was similar in the 2 groups, age grea ter than or equal to 65 years was an independent predictor of in-hospital m ortality (relative risk 5.4, 95% confidence interval 1.2 to 20.1) and follo w-up mortality (relative risk 2.8, 95% confidence interval 1.3 to 6.1).
