Abstract
The results obtained in 111 patients with screen detected abnormalities inv estigated by core biopsy performed on a prone table have been compared with a histological group of Ill patients. There was a higher preoperative diag nosis in the prone biopsy group (81.1% vs 45.5%; P < 0.0001). Prone stereot actic core biopsy is currently the optimum method of obtaining a pre-operat ive diagnosis of lesions visualized on mammography alone.
