A conservative fractional step method to solve the non-isentropic Eule
r set of equations on unstructured meshes is presented herein. The pre
sent two-step method, which is based on approximate Riemann solvers, i
s compared with Roe's scheme. The actual numerical rate of convergence
is examined. The C.F.L.-like conditions which must be fulfilled to ob
tain discrete positive values of density and pressure variables are th
en discussed. It is also shown that the extension to the multi-compone
nt case enables to fulfil the maximum principle for the mass fraction.
