Is. Szer, Gastrointestinal and renal involvement in vasculitis: Management strategies in Henoch-Schonlein purpura, CLEV CLIN J, 66(5), 1999, pp. 312-317
The joint pain, inflammation, and painful cutaneous edema of Henoch-Schonle
in purpura (HSP) are effectively treated with analgesics, nonsteroidal anti
-inflammatory agents, and corticosteroids, but the optimal management of HS
P-associated gastrointestinal and renal involvement has not yet been determ
ined. The results of mostly anecdotal and uncontrolled studies favor a shor
t course of oral corticosteroids for severe abdominal pain and aggressive i
mmunosuppressive therapy for patients with progressive HSP nephritis.
