Abstract
The nonlinear problem of long wave generation by a moving region of at mospheric pressure disturbances in a closed basin of variable depht is considered. The influence of the parameters of the basin and moving d isturbance as well as the process nonlinearity on the characteristics of induced waves is studied by using a finite-difference model. It is shown that moving pressure disturbance can give rise to sea level devi ations which exceed considerably the hydrostatic bend value.
