Abstract
A cluster of three genes, rpsF, rpsR, and rplI, encoding the ribosomal prot eins S6, S18, and L9, respectively, were cloned and sequenced from Neisseri a gonorrhoeae. The order of the genes within the cluster was established as rpsF-rpsR-uplI. Within this cluster an additional open reading frame of un known identity spanning 108 bp was found between rpsF and rpsR. The putativ e amino acid sequences deduced from all three genes show a high degree of h omology to other bacterial ribosomal proteins.
