A finite state Markov channel (FSMC) model for a digital narrowband mobile
LEO satellite channel is presented, which can be used to predict the time-v
arying behaviour of the channel and to adapt the transmission to the channe
l state. The model is developed with the help of the so-called context tree
pruning (CTP) algorithm. Its effectiveness is demonstrated by comparing th
eoretical results concerning the digital channel with simulated results obt
ained from time-continuous channel models.
