Abstract
A successful, error-free 1Tbit/s (40Gbit/s x 25ch) WDM transmission experim ent over 342km of nonzero dispersion (TrueWave) fibre is described in which a 40Gbit/s optical time-division-multiplexing (OTDM) transmitter, 3R recei ver, and gain-flattened, conventional Er-doped fibre amplifiers are used. F ibre chromatic dispersion was effectively compensated for using negative-sl ope dispersion compensating fibre.
