Vn. Kazachenko et al., Influence of microwave irradiation on kinetic parameters of single Ca2+-activated K+ channels, FERROELECTR, 220(3-4), 1999, pp. 317-328
Using the patch voltage-clamp method, the influence of millimeter microwave
s (42.25 GHz) on kinetic parameters of single Ca2+-activated K+ channels in
cultured kidney cells Vero was studied. It was found that exposure to the
field of non-thermal power (about 100 mu W/cm(2)) for 20-30 min greatly mod
ifies both open and closed times at the channel activity. Therewith, the de
pendencies of these parameters on internal Ca2+ and membrane voltage are gr
eatly deteriorated. The data suggest that the field alters both cooperativi
ty and binding characteristics of the channel activation by internal Ca2+.
