Abstract
Seismic induced noise is a major limiting factor to the sensitivity of gravitational wave interferometers. In this paper, we describe the Su perattenuator, a mirror suspension system planned for use in the VIRGO interferometer. The basic ideas of the superattenuator are reviewed a nd an innovation, a very low frequency inverted pendulum first stage, is described.
