A study of the oxidative electropolymerization of 3-trimethylsilylthiophene
shows that significant cleavage of the 3-substituent occurs during the pro
cess, but no degradation of 3-methylthiophene, 3-bromothiophene, and 3-brom
omethylthiophene occurs. Electropolymerization experiments indicate a signi
ficant effect of monomer concentration upon the potential for the onset of
monomer oxidation for 3-trimethylsilylthiophene. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science
