Abstract
In this study Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis was performed in 5 patients with end stage heart failure in whom a left ventricular assist device (Nova cor) was successfully implanted. Whole body measurements of bioelectrical i ndices resistance and reactance were taken before surgery and 3, 7, 12, and 15 days after if. After surgery there was a significant decrease in reacta nce, indicating a shift of body fluids from intra- to extra-cellular space.
