Abstract
An algebraic interpretation for the Al-Salam-Chihara q-orthogonal poly nomials is presented. Using an explicit realization in terms of divide d difference operators, their symmetry q-algebra is determined and stu died. This algebraic structure allows one to derive a new expansion fo rmula for these polynomials.
