Abstract
An equation is derived for the interrelationship between the thermal-lens s ignal and geometry parameters of the optical system of the dual-beam spectr ometer (distances between beam waists, sample cell, and the detector). The optimization of the optical system allowed the limits of detection and dete rmination of Methyl Orange as an example model system to be lowered by an o rder of magnitude and the linear calibration range to be widened by more th an one order of magnitude.
