Abstract
A microscopic nucleation model for electromigration on a lattice is propose d. The solution of the master equations for site occupancy produces a varia ble current exponent with 1<n<2. These results disprove previous claims tha t n=2 in nucleation models. We show that n=2 is the limiting behavior of al l nucleation models and argue that physical regimes exist where the deviati on from n=2 is significant. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics.
