Abstract
A new method of physically immobilizing a biomolecule of analytical in terest in poly(vinyl alcohol) cryogels was developed to obtain suitabl e biosensors. An amperometric glucose sensor was constructed using glu cose oxidase immobilized on membranes obtained by a freezing-thawing c yclic process; No chemical cross-linking agent was used. Sensor behavi our was evaluated electrochemically with a hydrogen peroxide electrode . The glucose content in standard solutions was determined and linear calibration curves in the 5 x 10(-5)-3 x 10(-3) mol l(-1) range were o btained. Temperature and pH effects on the electrochemical response we re described and kinetic parameters in the immobilized system were eva luated. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
