Primary ovarian leiomyomas are uncommon benign tumors that are usually asym
ptomatic. Distinguishing them from other ovarian tumors is important in ord
er to render the appropriate prognosis and treatment. The authors describe
a 6 x 7 cm primary ovarian leiomyoma in a 45-year-old woman that was surgic
ally managed. The histologic and immunohistochemical characteristics and pa
thogenesis are presented.
