The heavy odd-odd N = Z nuclei Rb-74, Y-78, Nb-82 Tc-86 have been produced
at GANIL by fragmentation of a 60 MeV/u Mo-92 beam on a natural nickel targ
et. The species of interest were selected and identified by their energy lo
ss in a silicon detector and their time of flight through the LISE spectrom
eter. The ions were implanted in a silicon strip detector in which their be
ta-decay was observed. The measured half-lives for Y-78, Nb-82, Tc-86 corre
spond to superallowed transitions and may sign Fermi transitions on the bas
is of log ft values. Our experimental results pave the way for further and
more precise measurements of these nuclei.
