Abstract
We note the origin of the Wigner term in T = 0 and J = 0 nucleon pair corre lations. Empirical evidence indicates that its energy is continuous through a shell region, and it persists through the region 82-126. Z = 126 might w ell be the next spherical proton magic number after Z = 82.
