Abstract
Tricyclic structures having the functionality and stereochemistry inherent
in phorbol and its analogues may be rapidly constructed by an ultra-high pr
essure IMDAF reaction. The nature of the 2-thioether substituent on the fur
an diene is critical for the success of the key cycloaddition reaction.
