Abstract
Racemic dihydroxylation of alkenes is efficiently accomplished with catalyt ic osmium (added as OsCl3), stoichiometric K3Fe(CN)(6) and quinuclidine und er conditions similar to those of the Sharpless asymmetric hydroxylation.
