Abstract
A new method for array pattern synthesis in the presence of near-zone scatt erers in the two-dimensional scalar case is presented. The synthesis is bas ed on the minimization of an objective function using the simulated anneali ng technique. To take into account the effects of the scatterers, the physi cal optics approximation is used.
