Abstract
p-Coumaroyl-beta-phenethylamine (1) and 2'.3'-dihydroxy-4',6'-dimethoxydihy drochalcone (2) were isolated bq preparative HPLC From a methanolic extract of Anomainthus dulcis leaves. This is the first time that these compounds were isolated from a natural source. In addition, the known compounds chrys in (3), pinocembrin (4), 5,7-dimethoxy-8-hydroxyflavanone (5) and 2', 3'-di hydroxy-4'.6'-dimethoxychalcone (6) were isolated for the first lime from t he genus Anomianthus. The isolated compounds were identified bcc H-1 and C- 13 NMRI MS. UV and IR. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. AII rights reserved.
