The binding energies of s-shell hypernuclei are calculated using the stocha
stic variational method. It is shown that the Pauli principle at the quark
level brings about a special constraint on the dynamics of hypernuclei. Whe
n the constraint is taken into account consistently with the quark confinem
ent, the predicted Lambda separation energy of He-5(Lambda) is significantl
y reduced for a baryon size of 0.86 fm, while it is unchanged for 0.6 fm. E
ffective Lambda N central potentials used in the present analysis reproduce
the excitation energies of the H-4(Lambda)-(4)(Lambda) He isodoublet.
