Abstract
A general expression for the rate of bridge mediated electron transfer reac tion is derived which takes into account effects of nuclear dynamics of don or and acceptor complexes as well as those of the bridge. The theory includ es treatment of a non-Born-Oppenheimer effect specific for a long distance electron transfer. The derived expression for the rate is designed for appl ications in numerical studies of long range electron transfer reactions in proteins.
