Jmd. Hernandez et al., Induced septal infarction as an alternative therapeutic strategy for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy: New observations derived from one case, REV ESP CAR, 52(5), 1999, pp. 339-342
The hypertrophic cardiomyopathy may be associated with a variable degree of
left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. There are several available th
erapeutic strategies for treatment: pharmacological, dual-chamber pacing, s
urgery and induced septal infarction. This last one is a novel technique wi
th less experience in practice. We present the clinical case of a patient w
hich showed persistent and severe obstruction in spite of the medications a
nd dual-chamber pacing, and who underwent this novel technique. The results
were optimal but new observations arise from this particular case.
