Abstract
Six novel trinuclear copper(II) complexes have been synthesized and identif ied as {[Cu(opba)][Cu(L)](2)}.(ClO4)(2). xH(2)O and {[Cu(Meopba)][Cu(L)(2)} .(ClO4)(2). xH(2)O [obpa = o-phenylenebis(oxamato), Meopba = 4-methyl-o-phe nylenebis(oxamato), L = 2,2'-bipyridyl (bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) or 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridyl (Mebpy), x = 1, 2]. Based on IR, elemental an alyses, electronic spectra, conductivity and thermoanalyses, the complexes are proposed to have an oxamido-bridged structure consisting of three coppe r(II) ions in which each copper(II) ion has a square-planar environment.
