Abstract
A series of unsymmetrical, tridentate and dianionic Schiff bases derived fr om substituted salicylaldehyde and 3-aminopropanol have been prepared and c haracterized by IR spectra, elemental analyses and X-ray single crystal dif fraction. The complex [Mn-2(PhCOO)(2)L-2] (H2L = N-3-hydroxypropyl-salicyla ldeneimine), crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-l with cell parame ters a = 9.733(1) Angstrom, b = 9.765(1) Angstrom, c = 11.123(1) Angstrom, alpha = 97.30(1) degrees, beta = gamma = 87.88(1)degrees, V = 959.2(3) Angs trom(3), Z = 1, R = 0.045, Rw = 0.054. The binuclear structures of the comp lexes are confirmed by the X-ray analysis and IR spectra.
